Fairmont Raceway will be open for the 2013 race season
New promoters, Al and Becky Thoreson, are excited to keep Friday
night racing in Fairmont.
(Fairmont, Minnesota) The Fairmont Raceway will remain open for the 2013
Race Season. Races are scheduled to begin on Friday, May 3rd and will
run every Friday until September. 2013 marks the 48th season Fairmont
Raceway will host races at the Martin County Fairgrounds.
Fans can expect to experience the same quality of racing in 2013 with a
new emphasis on community engagement. “Fairmont Raceway is the fastest
half mile around and brings fun and excitement to many. Our goal is for
more members of our community to experience it. We want Fairmont Raceway
to be THE place to go on a Friday night,” said Becky Thoreson, new
promoter.
Racing is no stranger to the other half of the new promoting pair, Al
Thoreson. Al, a native of Fairmont, grew up at the Raceway watching his
stepdad, Al Thoms, race. From times in the pit to times cheering on Al
from the grandstand, he has many fond memories of Fairmont Raceway. When
Al learned of the possibility of the Raceway not being open for racing
this season, he knew something had to be done. “The Fairmont Raceway is
a staple in our community and I want to make sure it stays that way for
years to come,” Al commented.
Becky Thoreson has also spent time at the races and brings a marketing
and public relations background to the position. The pair is excited to
be a part of the new history of Fairmont Raceway and invite all to join
them on Friday nights. For more information, please find us on Facebook
